Job summary

NHS Lothian's Western General Hospital in Edinburgh invites applications for a Clinical Fellow in Urology with subspecialist interest in functional urology and reconstructive surgery. The post offers participation in a tertiary referral service with operative theatres, clinics and urodynamics alongside a team of four consultants.

The role supports the East of Scotland Training Programme in Urology, with regular MDTs, regional clinics and on‑call commitments.

Qualifications

• Post is a Clinical Fellow in Urology with subspecialist interest in functional urology and reconstructive surgery.
• Training and development within a tertiary regional service with MDT involvement.

Responsibilities

• Specialist reconstructive clinic - develop clinical skills in reconstructive urology.
• Specialist diagnostics – Video Urodynamics, Urethral pressure profilometry.
• Reconstructive urological surgery – mentoring in urethroplasty and anti‑incontinence procedures.
• Regional SNS service and clinics with urogynaecology and endometriosis service.
• Regular local and regional MDT meetings.
• Complex paediatric to adult transition clinic (neurourology/recon).
• Specialist neuro‑urology clinic involvement.
• Complete a functional urology project/audit; contribute to General Urology sessions weekly.
