Personal Assistant (PA) - Support for Older Gentleman (Redmarley D’Abitot, Gloucestershire)

Rate: £20 per hour

Schedule: Twice-daily visits (morning & early evening)

Start Date: 16 November

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable, and flexible Personal Assistant (PA) to support an older gentleman with Alzheimer’s in his own home in Gloucestershire (near Tewkesbury). The role focuses on practical help, gentle prompting, and warm companionship to keep his routine steady while his primary carer is away.

Typical Visit Times
  • Morning: 10:00-11:00
  • Evening: 17:00-18:00
Main Responsibilities
Morning
  • Prepare a drink/breakfast; observe and step in with sequencing support as needed.
  • Support morning personal care (dignity-first; sequencing prompts).
  • Prepare lunch to heat/eat later; encourage hydration throughout the day.
  • Light housekeeping: dishes, wipe surfaces, quick vacuum, laundry as needed.
  • Orientation & companionship: chat about TV, day plans; help find items (e.g., remote).
  • Put away delivered shopping; check fridge items are in date.
Evening
  • Prompt and discreetly observe medication from the dosette with/after dinner; prepare and serve the evening meal; encourage fluids.
  • Record clear visit notes on the care platform for family reassurance.
  • Occasional: Friday a.m. balance class in Tewkesbury (approx. 50 mins) — drive, wait, and return. (Driver preferred)
About You
  • Kind, patient, chatty, and reassuring — able to support without making the person feel “looked after.” (Female PA preferred)
  • Experienced with Alzheimer’s/dementia: calm prompting, sequencing support, and a dignified, no-nonsense approach to occasional urinary incontinence.
  • Confident prompting medication from a dosette and encouraging nutrition/hydration.
  • Light housekeeping and simple meal prep.
