Job description

Sherwood Forest Hospitals are looking for a proactive and organised Support Worker to join our Upper GI Team at King’s Mill Hospital, supporting the delivery of high-quality care for patients with suspected Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a first point of contact for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals—handling face‑to‑face, telephone, and email enquiries.
  • Support the UGI CNS to identify the needs of upper GI cancer patients, contributing to the Holistic Needs Assessment process where appropriate.
  • Provide general information and support regarding patient pathway and diagnostic tests, enabling patients to navigate the health and social care system and make optimal choices.
  • Maintain and update spreadsheets and databases to track patient activity and support service audits.
  • Assist with the administrative running of nurse‑led tele‑clinics and health and well‑being clinics.
  • Order and manage educational resources for patients.
  • Support the CNS team in data collection and audit activities to improve service delivery.
