A leading education support provider is seeking experienced counsellors for a remote role delivering single-session therapeutic support to students at the University of Glasgow. Successful candidates will provide one-to-one sessions focused on enhancing student well-being and managing mental health challenges. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to engage meaningfully with students while adhering to professional guidelines and safeguarding protocols.
We're offering an opportunity for experienced counsellors to provide single-session therapeutic support to students referred by the University of Glasgow. This role focuses on delivering brief, solution-focused intervention aimed at helping students manage immediate mental health or well-being concerns.
Students will be referred for a single therapeutic session. Presenting concerns may include anxiety, low mood, procrastination, self‑esteem issues, stress related to exams or deadlines, and other short‑term well‑being challenges.
Counsellors will be required to deliver sessions remotely.
You will work on a contract‑for‑services basis. We cannot guarantee a set number of hours, as this depends on referral volume.
Remote Rate: £25 per hour. (50 minute sessions + 10 minutes note taking).
Holiday Pay: In addition to your hourly rate, you will accrue holiday pay at 12% of your average earnings (approximately £3.37 per hour). This enables you to build up paid leave to use during quieter periods, such as university holidays.
You will receive referrals along with relevant background information and the student's stated goals for the session. You will be responsible for contacting the student, arranging the session, and delivering the single‑session intervention.
Single-Session Support: Provide one‑to‑one therapeutic input designed to help students explore their concerns, identify practical strategies, and gain clarity or direction within a single session.
Student Engagement: Build rapport quickly to create a safe, supportive space where students feel comfortable discussing their concerns and working towards achievable goals.
Safeguarding and Confidentiality: Follow all safeguarding procedures set by both Randstad and the University of Glasgow. You must adhere to risk assessment protocols and appropriately escalate any concerns. All information must be handled confidentially and in compliance with GDPR.
Professional Membership: Accredited membership with the BACP (or equivalent) is essential.
Clinical Supervision and Insurance: You must engage in regular clinical supervision to support ethical practice and ongoing professional development.
Experience: A minimum of 300 clinical hours is required. Experience working in a university setting or with young adults is beneficial but not essential.
Enhanced DBS (or equivalent)
