Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking an experienced nursing leader to provide professional and clinical leadership across the nursing services. You will act as expert practitioner, guiding the multi-disciplinary team and upholding high standards of care.

You will lead clinical governance, audit and research activity, and supervise designated Lanarkshire wide services such as palliative care and mental health practice development.

Qualifications

  • NMC registered nurse (UK) with current registration and pin.
  • Educated to Masters level or working towards.
  • Knowledge of NHS Scotland's Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing and clinical leadership across nursing services.
  • Support the Associate Director of Nursing and Service Managers with planning and decision making.
  • Lead the development of clinical audit and research within clinical governance.

The Role
  • Professional and clinical lead for all nursing services, within area of responsibility and designated nursing profession specific lead (i.e. Public Health, Long-term Conditions, Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing) as required across NHS Lanarkshire.
  • Expert practitioner, providing professional leadership, support and advice within the multi-disciplinary team across NHS Lanarkshire to ensure high standards of nursing care.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a programme of clinical audit and research activity within the context of clinical governance.
In This Key Role, You Will
  • Provide professional nursing and clinical advice in support of the Associate Director of Nursing, Unit General Manager, Associate Medical Director, Clinical Directors and Service Managers.
  • Assist in planning, priority setting and decision making to ensure that patient care and organisational goals are met.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and action plans to support and meet changing operational service requirements.
  • Assess, appraise and critically apply the evidence-base for Clinical Practice.
  • Be wholly accountable for his/her own nursing practice and take every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve the knowledge, skills and values required for safe and effective practice.
  • Provide operational line management responsibility for designated Lanarkshire wide services e.g. palliative care, mental health practice development
What You'll Bring
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland's Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent framework
  • Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
