Salary: £25,189 – £25,989 per annum. Part‑time, 20 hours per week, fixed term until 27/03/2026.

About the role

Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, delivering more than 60,000 meals per day. This unit catering supervisor (Grade 4) position is at Abbey Village Primary School, Blackburn. The successful candidate will lead and work as part of a team to deliver high‑quality, healthy balanced meals for school children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cook and serve food and beverages in accordance with agreed menus and production plans.
  • Direct and/or supervise other employees.
  • Order supplies and store deliveries.
  • Maintain records and stock control.
  • Maintain agreed standards and associated documentation in relation to food and kitchen hygiene.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience of large‑scale catering.
  • Knowledge of food service and catering in general.
  • Organisational cost control and supervisory skills.
  • Recognised supervisor or team leader qualification desirable.
Working Hours & Days
  • Fixed‑term position until 27/03/2026, covering staff absence.
  • Monday to Friday, 4 hours per day.
  • Term time only – 4 cleaning days during school closure.
  • Up to 20 hours per week; hours variable depending on school meal uptake.
