Job summary

Travelers Europe is recruiting for an Insurance Professional Development Program underwriter-in-training in London. You will build insurance skillsets through mentorship, professional qualifications, and on-the-job training within a collaborative underwriting team on financial lines.

Responsibilities

• Triage, process and input New Business, Renewals and mid-term adjustments on the relevant IT systems.
• Enter quotes, risks and endorsements accurately for reporting and regulatory purposes.
• Ensure timely entry of risks into systems via Shared Services Review data.
• Obtain information for local policies by liaising with the local team and underwriters.
• Support Underwriters by handling queries and preparing renewal/broker documentation.
• Assist with pricing and classifying risks per underwriting guidelines.
• Coordinate with Risk Control, Claims, Marketing, Distribution, Financial and Actuarial teams as needed.
• Assist Operations or Credit Control with overdue premium and tax queries.
• Prepare loss reports for Brokers.
• Conduct research for Senior Underwriters, e.g. trade press and credit scoring.
• Collaborate across underwriting and business support functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Is the Opportunity?

Bond and Specialty Insurance provides Financial Lines insurance for Small, Medium and Large sized businesses through our Broker networks. In the Insurance Professional Development Program, you will build Insurance skillsets through a blend of mentorship, professional qualifications through an apprenticeship, and on-the-job training. You will work with a collaborative team of underwriters that will provide you with the opportunity to build a unique and successful career within a highly competitive area of the insurance industry. Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part‑time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

What Will You Do?

• Triage, process and input New Business, Renewals and mid‑term adjustments on the relevant IT systems.
• Utilise appropriate systems to accurately enter quotes, risks and endorsements, so as to ensure correct management, statistical and regulatory reporting.
• Ensure timely entry of risks into the relevant systems via Shared Services Review aggregation data, respond to queries and ensure it is accurately entered into the systems where required.
• Obtain required information for local policies, liaising with the local team and underwriters.
• Support Underwriters by handling queries and preparing documentation for renewals and broker meetings.
• Assist with pricing and classifying risks in accordance with the Underwriting Guidelines and rating considerations.
• Liaison with the Risk Control, Claims, Marketing, Distribution, Financial and Actuarial departments as required.
• Assist Operations or Credit Control with resolving queries on overdue premium, tax queries or aged debt.
• Prepare loss reports for Brokers.
• Conduct research for Senior Underwriters as directed e.g. review of trade press, financial/credit scoring information etc.
• Work effectively with colleagues at all levels within Underwriting and across the business support functions such as Operations, Actuarial and Finance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
