We're seeking an exceptional Underwriter to join our dynamic Executive Risks team, where you'll have the opportunity to build on your established broker relationships and technical underwriting skills to drive business growth and deliver outstanding client solutions.

About the Role

As a Underwriter in our Executive Risks team, you'll play a pivotal role in our continued success by leveraging your technical expertise and market connections to identify, analyze, and underwrite Directors and Officers Liability transactions. You'll operate as both a primary and excess insurer, utilizing our multinational/local policy capabilities to create tailored solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate new business opportunities by leveraging your existing broker network and developing new relationships across the UK market
  • Analyze technical insurability of risks, evaluating exposures and coverages with precision and insight
  • Review and structure coverage proposals, wordings, and quotations that balance client needs with sound underwriting principles
  • Lead discussions with brokers and clients, demonstrating deep understanding of their requirements and expectations
  • Select risks carefully using your market knowledge to identify profitable opportunities while maintaining underwriting discipline
  • Contribute to bespoke projects within Corporate Solutions, working in international deal teams
  • Participate in special assignments as required, bringing your expertise to cross-functional initiatives

  • Experience of Directors & Officers (D&O) underwriting with demonstrated technical proficiency
  • Established network of UK D&O brokers and commercial institution clientsStrong negotiation and analytical skills with a focus on service orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with proven relationship‑building capabilities
  • Advanced organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively
Nice to Have
  • Experience with multinational policy capabilities and international markets
  • Knowledge of additional management liability products beyond D&O
  • Proficiency with underwriting systems and digital tools
  • Experience in mentoring or developing junior team members
  • Strong IT skills for efficient workflow management
  • Willingness to travel as required for client/broker meetings #LI-Hybrid

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.

For London, the annual base salary range for this position is between GBP 63 000 and GBP 95 000 (for a full‑time role). The specific salary offered considers the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance‑based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements.
