Job summary

Arch Europe Insurance Services Ltd in London is seeking an Underwriter, Cargo to manage underwriting of new and renewal cargo business, with a focus on the London Open Market Cargo portfolio and support for UK/European operations.

You will assist the senior underwriter with research, reporting and presentations while maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering effective client and broker relationships. Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Underwriting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cargo insurance market and guidelines.
• ACII or degree preferred.
• Regulatory awareness and governance adherence.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites new and renewal cargo business per guidelines.
• Assists senior underwriter with research, reporting and presentations.
• Focus on London Open Market Cargo; support UK/European business as required.
• Support broker and client development and relationships (travel as needed).
• Contribute to KPIs: GWP, loss ratio, acquisition cost, pricing adequacy.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
• Develop technical expertise in specialist areas and manage time effectively.
• Work under pressure and present to senior management.

• Underwrites new and renewal business in accordance with underwriting authority and guidelines
• Assists the senior underwriter/manager in other underwriting activities, including research, reporting, analysis and presentations.
• Primary focus on London Open Market Cargo portfolio but also supporting the Logistics segment of the LOB and UK Regional/European business as required.
• Supports broker and client development/relationship goals (including overseas travel as required).
• Contributes to key performance metrics for the LOB including GWP, Gross Loss Ratio, Acquisition Cost, Rate Change, Appetite/Risk Selection and Pricing Adequacy.
• Met all compliance and governance requirements.
• Contributes to continuous operational and underwriting improvement.
• Develops technical expertise in specialist areas of opportunity as identified.
