Job summary

Bryden Wood, a strategy and design consultancy, invites a placement Building Services Engineer to contribute to MEP design across data centres, pharma, rail, and healthcare projects in London or St Albans. You will handle drawings, calculations, and reports, with opportunities to visit live sites and join client meetings.

As a placement Building Services Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge and fast-paced design environment, collaborating with – and learning from – the multiple disciplines across the company. Our projects include data centres, pharmaceutical, railways, hospitals, large-scale residential developments, carbon-neutral office buildings and more.

We want our placement Engineers to get the most from their time with us – so we will support you every step of the way.

About the Role:

You will work in our London or St. Albans office in the Building Services MEP engineering departments, on a variety of projects across a range of industries. We will give you responsibility for contributing to designs, including drawing work, calculations and report writing. You may also have the opportunity to visit live sites and participate in meetings with design teams and clients.

We are an integrated company, so you’ll work closely with other disciplines, as part of a team that’s driving efficiency, innovation and effectiveness in design solutions.

About You:

We’d like you to be proactive, curious, and excited by problem-solving. You’ll need good analytical ability and to be able and willing to work well with others.

You will have:

• Real enthusiasm for engineering design. You’ll be keen to work in a challenging design environment on the Mechanical and/or Electrical elements of projects.
• Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Willingness to learn modelling software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
• Interest in emerging technologies and innovations in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).
