Description - Job Title: Undergraduate Naval Ships Mechanical Engineer

Location: Scotstoun (Glasgow)

We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-4 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Capturing and analysing requirements in order to understand the customer/business needs and the context in which the system will be used.
  • Supporting the design and optimisation of system architectures and solutions using system modelling techniques.
  • Facilitating successful integration of systems and sub-systems.
  • Identifying and mitigating failure modes.
  • Supporting the identification of safety hazards and the assessment and mitigation of safety risk.
  • Creating high quality written reports and calculations to back up engineering decisions and recovery plans.

The Naval Ships Team

We design and build offshore patrol vessels, a giant aircraft carrier and provide complex warships including the Type 26 Frigate to the Royal Navy, giving the customer capability to fulfil operations around the world.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you'll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering or Marine Engineering (Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing or with another allied subject is also acceptable).
