Job Summary

Sonographer at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust. Role requires postgraduate certificate in Medical Ultrasound and autonomous practice, contributing to a sonographer-led service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete the required clinical caseload of the Trust, excluding the most complex interventions performed by medical staff.
  • Manage patient pathway for designated referrals, provide comprehensive reports of findings, seek appropriate advice and ensure communication to clinicians.
  • Take responsibility for image archiving and electronic data management during procedures.
  • Effectively communicate distressing and unexpected news directly to patients using empathy, respect and tact.
  • Develop professional expertise and provide external consultation as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure technical equipment quality assurance and safe operation for patient use.
  • Model compassionate and inclusive leadership, fostering a collective leadership culture.
Qualifications
  • Postgraduate certificate in Medical Ultrasound.
  • Independent scanning experience in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, GenMed and Musculoskeletal areas (desirable).
  • Fit and Proper Person Requirements satisfied.
