Job summary

Grant Thornton Ireland seeks a UK VAT – Manager to lead the Belfast Indirect Tax team on UK VAT advisory and compliance projects. You will manage cross-border VAT issues, liaise with HMRC, and deliver high-quality client service across a diverse portfolio.

The role requires 5–8 years of UK VAT experience, professional qualifications (CTA/ATT/ACA/ACCA or equivalent), and a proactive, mentoring approach to junior staff within a dynamic international network.

Qualifications

• CTA, ATT, ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified, with 5–8 years UK VAT experience.
• Strong technical UK VAT knowledge and experience delivering advisory projects.
• Experience leading engagements and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of UK VAT advisory, compliance and due diligence engagements for a diverse client base.
• Lead HMRC compliance activities, including VAT returns and MT Digital requirements.
• Advise clients on complex UK VAT matters and cross-border transactions.
• Build client relationships and support business development initiatives.
• Coach and review the work of junior team members within the Belfast Indirect Tax team.
