Job Title: UK Tax Manager

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 Per Annum (Depending on Experience and Qualifications)

Location: Bolton (Hybrid working office based 2 days per week)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri 9-5

The role

The UK Tax Manager will oversee and manage all UK tax compliance, reporting, and strategy for the group. This role ensures the business adheres to relevant tax laws while optimizing its tax position, with a strong focus on VAT and corporate tax. It offers a diverse workload, combining compliance with strategic advisory projects in a forward‑thinking, supportive environment.

What you'll do
Tax Compliance & Reporting
  • Manage the preparation and submission of corporate income tax, VAT, and other tax returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting, disclosures, and provisions.
  • Work with external advisors and auditors to resolve issues and maintain compliance.
VAT Management
  • Lead VAT compliance and reporting processes.
  • Provide advice on VAT recovery, intercompany flows, and cross‑border transactions.
  • Ensure VAT treatments are accurate and optimised.
Corporate Tax Strategy & Planning
  • Support tax strategy and planning with the Head of Tax.
  • Lead UK group tax forecasting, budgeting, and provision processes.
  • Support on M&A transactions and reorganisations.
Transfer Pricing
  • Oversee transfer pricing policy and documentation.
  • Manage benchmarking, reporting, and intercompany agreements.
Tax Risk Management
  • Identify and manage tax risks across all tax types.
  • Lead HMRC audits, enquiries, and negotiations.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and advise on impact.
Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and operations teams.
  • Provide advice on tax implications of new projects and contracts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with HMRC, auditors, and advisors.
What we're looking for
Essential
  • ACA, ACCA, CTA (or equivalent).
  • 3–5 years’ experience in tax, with strong VAT and corporate tax knowledge.
  • Technical expertise in VAT law, corporate tax regulations, and transfer pricing.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
Desirable
  • Group tax accounting and advisory experience (M&A, reorganisations).
  • Knowledge of international tax matters.
  • Ability to communicate complex tax issues simply and effectively.
