A vacancy has arisen for a self‑motivated and enthusiastic individual to join this dynamic and internationally respected EQA programme based within the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.
The individual will be required to work with administrative staff and healthcare scientists in the area of Immunology, Immunochemistry & Allergy by delivering an efficient and responsive EQA service to UK and international clinical laboratories.
This is a non‑patient facing role within UK NEQAS and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that will ideally suit an individual looking to join an internationally respected team and be exposed to new and exciting developments.
Deliver scientific/technical procedures, under the direction of the responsible scientific staff.
Performs a number of healthcare science/scientific activities, under the indirect supervision/direction of a suitably qualified practitioner, including pre‑analytical processing of EQA samples to include the receipt, preparation and preliminary processing.
Assist in maintaining high scientific and technical standards.
Promote and maintain a high standard of relevant education and training.
Adhere to all Trust, SYBP and department policies.
Take appropriate action on non‑conformity to SOP eg minimum requirements for EQA sample release.
Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out and may input/ interrogate test results of others.
May be required to supervise, organise and allocate work and/or train less experienced staff in own area.
Ensure all procedures are performed efficiently within the assigned time and in accordance with established protocols to the required standards Prioritise work to ensure correct workflow through the laboratory and ensure urgent tests are processed according to SOP.
Assist in monitoring quality standards and perform audit as required.
Undertake appropriate "in service" training over an extended period and complete training logs in all relevant areas of the department.
Deal with direct queries from participating laboratories and other service users including telephone enquiries and emails and taking appropriate action as necessary.
