Job summary

ACCA Careers seeks a UK Financial Accountant to join our London team supporting the EMEA Controllers organization. You will ensure timely UK statutory reporting and IFRS/US GAAP compliance while assisting with global accounting initiatives.

The role covers month-end, payroll journals, intercompany allocations, and coordination with external auditors. 3 years in audit/finance and ACA/CA or equivalent are preferred to drive high-quality financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 3 years' experience in an audit, finance or accounting role, preferably in Public Accounting.
• ACA / CA or equivalent certification is required.
• Audit practice experience is preferred.
• Good understanding of general tax accounting and local tax regimes.
• Experience of financial statement preparation under IFRS, UK GAAP and US GAAP.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Results oriented and self-motivated.
• Role requires 2 days a week or 9 days a month in the office.

Responsibilities

• Analyze key balance sheet and P&L accounts; prepare and post journals.
• Support month-end processes, including journal prep and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and post payroll journals and reconciliations, including accruals.
• Allocate monthly intercompany cross charges related to Payroll Benefits.
• Analyze monthly financial reports and present findings to the board quarterly.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure IFRS/UK GAAP/US GAAP compliance.
• Prepare financial statements for legal entities per IFRS/UK GAAP/US GAAP.
• Liaise with external auditors for timely statutory audits.
• Ensure timely submission of financial and non-financial information to local authorities.
• Support preparation of tax returns and related accounting workflows.
• Prepare UK Group VAT returns and manage related workflows.
• Assist with mergers, acquisitions and legal entity restructuring.
• Support process improvement projects by identifying best practices.

UK Financial Accountant

This role supports the EMEA Controllers organization with UK and other jurisdictions managed out of the London office, to ensure that the accounting operations are timely and accurately reported and that local statutory and International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS") requirements are adhered to, in addition to supporting enterprise-wide initiatives.

About The Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 10

The role will be responsible for all financial duties for UK entities and any other countries that are deemed appropriate. We are looking for a candidate who is a problem solver with an analytical mindset who is comfortable with taking on responsibility to ensure compliance with local statutory requirements. The candidate will play a key role in providing support for all Controllership matters.

• Assist the UK & Bermuda Controller with mergers, acquisitions, and legal entity restructuring.
• Support process improvement projects by identifying and implementing best practices.

What We're Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications

• 3 years' experience in an audit, finance or accounting role, preferably in Public Accounting
• ACA / CA or equivalent certification
• Audit practice experience
• Good understanding general tax accounting and local tax regimes
• Experience of financial statement preparation under IFRS, UK GAAP and US GAAP
