Job summary

Waymo LLC in London, United Kingdom, seeks its first Field Safety Engineer to act as the primary engineering liaison with UK safety regulators. You will collaborate with Policy, Legal, and Operations teams in the UK, Europe, and the US to keep Waymo’s autonomous fleet safe and compliant.

You will lead UK Field Safety issues, participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, and coordinate with the US Field Safety team to share insights from the UK perspective.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of engineering or technical experience in automotive or transport.
• Experience with UK automotive/regulatory framework.
• Collaborative with Policy, Legal, Operations, Engineering in UK/Europe/US.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with UK regulators.
• Able to work evenings to collaborate with US team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as UK liaison on post-deployment safety with regulators (UK).
• Collaborate with US Field Safety to align UK operations.
• Lead Field Safety issues affecting UK operations.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for incident response.
