Job summary

Liberty Global plc invites applications for a 12-month industrial placement in Emerging Technology. You'll work within Technology Strategy and Cybersecurity, gaining hands-on experience while developing skills in Python, data analysis and AI/ML concepts via real projects.

You'll receive expert guidance, have opportunities to network with senior leaders, and build practical experience for your final year at university. The placement runs when you join, starting in 2027 and ending in 2028.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree and take a placement year.
• Second year starting summer 2027 and graduate by summer 2028.
• Experience with Python or similar programming language is desirable.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our 12-month industrial placement offers you hands‑on experience within one of our core emerging technology areas. This may include work across artificial intelligence, data and software‑led innovation, with opportunities to explore and prototype practical AI‑enabled solutions.

You’ll have expert support from colleagues, as well as opportunities to use your own initiative to solve problems and drive projects forward.It’s designed to give you a real insight into what Liberty Global has to offer and you’ll be able to network and meet senior leaders from across the business.

To help you get the best out of your time with us, we’ll make sure you’re heading down the right path from the start. Your first few weeks will be spent with a range of experts providing insight into the Tech and Cybersecurity function of the business, and assessing and developing your functional technology skills. We’ll give you all the tools needed to make the placement year a success. By the end, you’ll have gained extra confidence, skills and knowledge, which will help you finish your final year at university effectively. Depending on the placement, you may develop hands‑on capability in areas such as Python, software development, data analysis, AI/ML concepts, generative AI and rapid prototyping, applying these skills to real business and technology challenges.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

We’re looking for students that are highly motivated, hard‑working, and eager to explore new opportunities. Applications from degree backgrounds in Cybersecurity, Data Science, Technology & Engineering is preferable, however we will accept proven experience with data analytics, coding, or technology development. In essence, we’re looking for applicants who have a growth mind set and genuine interest in working within the emerging technology space. We are particularly interested in students whose studies include AI/ML content (for example, an AI minor, pathway or relevant modules), or who can demonstrate practical experience through academic, or personal projects. Experience with Python or another programming language, software development/engineering principles, data analysis, machine learning or generative AI is desirable but by no means a prerequisite. We value candidates who are comfortable experimenting, building prototypes and learning new AI tools and techniques.

To be eligible for our placement programme you need to be doing a placement year as part of your Undergraduate degree course. In addition, you should take your placement in your second year starting in summer 2027 and graduate in summer 2028.
