Job summary

Rocket Science Group in Cardiff is seeking a Mid-Level UI/UX Designer to own mid-scope UI tasks and collaborate across engineers, designers, and producers.

You will design, implement, and optimize complex UI features, maintain UI libraries, and ensure compatibility across resolutions and gameplay contexts. This role offers a hybrid setup with both in-office collaboration and remote days, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of UI/UX design experience in games or interactive products.
• Proven ability to deliver mid-scope UI features independently, including complex interactions or procedural systems.
• Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator) and engine implementation (Unreal, Unity).
• Strong understanding of UI fundamentals: layout, anchoring, slicing, optimisation, and scripting basics.
• Ability to debug and resolve complex UI challenges within your feature domain.
• Experience developing or optimising UI systems or libraries for consistency and efficiency.
• Clear communication to flag blockers and propose practical solutions.
• Strong grasp of usability, readability, and accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimise complex UI features and systems (menus, HUD modules, dynamic flows).
• Develop and maintain UI libraries and reusable components.
• Implement shaders, materials, or animations to achieve visual goals.
• Debug and resolve technical UI issues (engine, blueprint, middleware).
• Validate UI across resolutions, aspect ratios, and gameplay contexts.
• Improve personal and small-team workflows for efficiency.
• Contribute to UX flows and interface consistency within your domain.
• Maintain documentation for tools, systems, and components.
