Job summary

Saab UK in Bedford seeks a Flight Test Engineer to manage preparation and support of UAV flight operations. You will bridge engineering and field testing, driving evaluation of systems through test planning, flight execution and data analysis.

The role requires UAV piloting capability, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance throughout the testing lifecycle and collaboration with Saab UK's defence technology teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in uncrewed or crewed flight test operations.
• Certification as a UAV pilot with capability for manual and autonomous flight.
• Strong analytical skills to translate flight data into engineering feedback.

Responsibilities

• Test planning: Design flight test plans, risk assessments, and procedures.
• Flight preparation: Oversee UAV systems checks and ground testing.
• Flight test execution: Lead or support field testing as UAV pilot.
• Post flight analysis: Process and analyze flight data to evaluate performance.
• Reporting: Produce detailed flight test reports with metrics and insights.
