Job summary

Saab UK in Bedford is seeking a UAV Design Engineer to own aircraft sizing and lead early design concepts for new UAV programs. You will turn requirements and CONOPS into sized, analysable air vehicle concepts through rapid, iterative trade studies.

You will work in a small multidisciplinary team to explore geometry, aerodynamics, weights, propulsion, and mission performance, validating models with flight data and bench-test results.

Qualifications

Aircraft sizing and concept-design tooling.
UAV sizing and constraint analysis.
Experience synthesising flight logs/telemetry/test data.
Python scripting skills.
Experience in safety-critical/defence environments.

Responsibilities

Perform aircraft conceptual sizing and constraint analysis.
Develop parametric air vehicle geometry and OML.
Produce core conceptual outputs.
Run trade studies and design-space exploration.
Synthesize flight-test data to validate models.
Select and shape propulsion concepts for mission analysis.
Maintain and improve the concept-design toolchain.
Capture design risk and feed into risk register.
