Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc is seeking a UAS Technician to prepare, maintain and operate a range of Uncrewed Systems for Test & Evaluation trials. You will perform scheduled maintenance, operate systems in trials, and ensure compliance with data, manuals and regulatory standards.

The role requires 3–5 years in a regulated environment, UAS flying experience, and a solid knowledge of Uncrewed Systems technologies. The position is at Boscombe Down, 37 hours per week with potential flexible patterns; SC

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a regulated, safety‑focused environment with Uncrewed Systems.
  • Experience operating and maintaining Uncrewed Systems during trials.
  • Proven problem solving and fault diagnosis on Uncrewed Systems and related equipment.
  • Possession of CAA Remote Piloting qualifications (highly desirable).
  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical) or completed engineering apprenticeship.
  • Professionally registered as an Eng Tech (or capable of progressing to Eng Tech).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, repair and disassemble Uncrewed Systems and payloads per approved data.
  • Operate and maintain Uncrewed Systems during trials.
  • Diagnose faults and solve problems on Uncrewed Systems and related equipment.
  • Ensure alignment with customer target requirements.

Job description

As a UAS Technician, you'll report to the Team Leader and will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and operation of the diverse range of Uncrewed Systems assets for Test & Evaluation trials. Day-to-day, you'll be involved with scheduled and routine maintenance of the Uncrewed Systems within the scope of the approved data and manuals and will include operating the Uncrewed Systems which the individual is trained and competent on. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building, functional testing, repairing and the disassembly of Uncrewed Systems and associated payloads in accordance with approved data
  • Operating and maintaining Uncrewed Systems during trials
  • Problem solving and fault diagnosis on Uncrewed Systems and associated
  • equipment
  • Ensuring that every effort is made to achieve the Customer target requirements
  • Applying all standards required by the relevant Air Publications, OEM Manuals, QinetiQ Operating Framework and CAA Regulatory Publications
    Have 3-5 years' experience of working in a regulated and safety focused environment on Uncrewed Systems
  • UAS flying experience
  • Experience and knowledge of a variety of Uncrewed Systems technologies and types
  • Demonstrable high level of IT competence including the ability to learn new systems as required
  • Using Online Manuals and maintenance recording solutions, Possession of CAA Remote Piloting qualifications (Highly Desirable)
  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical) or have completed a relevant engineering apprenticeship
  • Professionally registered as an Eng Tech (or capable of progressing to Eng Tech)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
