Job summary

Stevenage Football Club is seeking an experienced academy coach to deliver high-quality coaching within our cell-based structure. You will focus on individual and small-group progression guided by the Academy philosophy and EPPP, preparing players for progression between age groups.

You will plan and review coaching sessions, provide feedback, and work with the MDT to support holistic development of players, while maintaining safeguarding and strong communication with players, parents and staff.

Qualifications

  • FA Youth Award (or currently working towards).
  • FA Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF).
  • Previous experience coaching players in an academy or elite environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and matchdays.
  • Working towards or holding the UEFA A Licence.
  • Experience delivering within a cell or specialist coaching model.
  • Knowledge of EPPP requirements and the KML system.
  • Experience with video/performance analysis tools (Veo, YouTube, etc.).

Responsibilities

Job description

To deliver high-quality coaching to players within our academy age groups as part of Stevenage FC’s cell-based coaching structure. The post holder will provide tailored development support in line with the Academy philosophy and the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), focusing on individual and small-group progression to prepare players for transition across age groups.

  • Plan, deliver, and review engaging coaching sessions for a designated player “cell” across our squads.
  • Provide individualised feedback and monitor progress through IDPs (Individual Development Plans) and regular reviews.
  • Contribute to matchday preparation, in-game coaching, and post-match feedback for designated players.
  • Work collaboratively with the MDT (analysis, sports science, medical, psychology, education & welfare) to support holistic player development.
  • Record session plans, attendance, and player progress accurately on the KML system.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with players, parents, and Academy staff.
  • Promote and uphold safeguarding, player welfare, and the Academy’s values at all times.

About The Club

Founded in 1976 as Stevenage Borough Football Club, we dropped the ‘Borough’ from our name in 2010 when we won promotion to the English Football League for the first time in our history, although it has stuck as our nickname.

We currently play in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of English football. Our home games are played at The Lamex Stadium, which has a capacity of 7,800 supporters.

Over the years, we have achieved a huge amount in our relatively short history: including 2 FA Trophies, 2 Conference National titles, a League Two Play-Off Trophy & automatic promotion to League One in 2023.
