Westwood Park Primary School is entering an exciting new chapter with the appointment of a new headteacher from January 2026. We are now seeking a dynamic, committed and inspirational deputy headteacher to join our leadership team and help shape the future of our school, however this appointment will be for a September 2026 start. Therefore, the governors would like to invite applicants to apply for a secondment opportunity in this role for two terms, starting 1st January 2026.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is looking for a short term challenge and opportunity to experience working as a Deputy Headteacher as part of their career progression.
  • Has a track record of excellent classroom practice and school improvement.
  • Can lead and manage change with vision and empathy.
  • Is committed to the development of the whole child and is committed to driving inclusion in the school.
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships across the school community.
  • Will work in close partnership with the new Headteacher to drive forward our strategic priorities and school improvement plans throughout the rest of this academic year.

The successful candidate will have a teaching responsibility. An expertise or interest in Mathematics is desirable (but not essential) as a key focus of the school improvement work this academic year is raising attainment in Mathematics across the school.
