Job summary

A leading UK healthcare institution is seeking a Tutor Dental Therapist to educate and develop future dental professionals. This role requires current GDC registration and at least 3 years of experience in clinical settings, ideally within the NHS. Responsibilities include delivering training and working closely with a team to innovate education practices. The position offers a salary range of £56,276 to £63,176 per annum on a fixed-term, part-time basis for 14 months.

Tutor Dental Therapist

Applications are invited for a highly motivated, dynamic and flexible dental hygienist / dental therapist who is interested in educating the future workforce.

You will work alongside experienced clinical and academic staff to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours – ensuring professional and confidential graduates. As a team we actively encourage innovation in our education and assessment.

Main duties of the job

You will need to hold current GDC registration as a dental hygienist or dental therapist with at least 3 years current experience working within primary or secondary care, experience within NHS is preferable. Educational experience is desirable but not essential, the role is ideal for someone who would like to expand their role through teaching and influencing the education of the next generation of dental professionals.

The post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicants will join an established Dental Education Team committed to high quality research-based academic and clinical teaching.

Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Diploma or BSc in Dental Hygiene or Dental Therapy
  • Full registration with the General Dental Council
  • Post Graduate Certification in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education or equivalent
  • Higher degree (MSc, PhD or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of the clinical and educational expectations for training dental hygienists
Experience
  • Evidence of clinical experience in general dental practice: working to full scope of practice, demonstrating depth of understanding of the role
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Experience of delivering education and training to dental professionals
Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced IT skills (including MS Office Suite)
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of quality assurance in education
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance, audit and research
  • Ability to draw on a range of methods and techniques to effectively engage participants in the process of learning
