A specialized tutoring service is seeking a compassionate SEN Tutor in Hurn, UK. Hours: 10 HOURS A WEEK
Salary: 25- 30 AN HOUR ( Depending on experience )
Start Date: As soon as possible

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Tutor to work with a young student, who requires tailored support to reintegrate into education in preparation for her upcoming GCSE studies. They have been diagnosed with Autism and experiences significant challenges related to social communication, emotional regulation, and anxiety in a school setting.

This student is now seeking support to re-engage with education in a way that works for them, with a focus on emotional well-being, social communication, and academic confidence‑especially as they approaches their GCSEs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personalised One-to-One Tutoring: Provide tailored academic support, primarily focusing on English (age‑expected level), and assist in preparing them for GCSE studies.
  • Support Emotional Regulation: Work with them to develop strategies for managing anxiety and emotional overwhelm, enabling her to better regulate her emotions in school settings.
  • Social Communication Skills: Support them in developing and improving her social communication skills, fostering positive peer interactions, and building her confidence in social situations.
  • Create a Safe and Supportive Learning Environment: Provide a calm and structured learning space, allowing them to feel secure and empowered to learn. Utilise strategies to minimise distractions and support her sensory needs.
  • Collaborative Approach: Work closely with their family, school, and other professionals to ensure a holistic, consistent approach to her education and well‑being.
Requirements
  • Experience with SEN: A background in supporting students with Autism and social communication difficulties, ideally with experience in reintegration or preparing students for formal education settings like GCSEs.
  • Understanding of Anxiety in Education: Experience in supporting students who experience anxiety and emotional dysregulation in school, with a focus on creating individualised coping strategies.
  • Patience and Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach, understanding the unique challenges they faces and adapting your approach accordingly.
  • Creative and Flexible Teaching Methods: Ability to tailor lessons to their needs, utilising a variety of teaching strategies to ensure engagement and success.
  • Knowledge of GCSE Preparation: While the main focus is on emotional and social development, some experience with or understanding of the GCSE curriculum will be helpful.
