Job summary

Tutor Doctor Cambridge and Norwich is seeking enthusiastic KS3/4 Maths, English and Science tutors for in-person, one-to-one sessions around Cambridge and surrounding areas. Sessions will be tailored to each student’s needs, with travel to Cambourne, Northstowe, and nearby locations within 20 miles.

As a self-employed tutor, you will work daytime and/or evenings, delivering high-quality sessions to KS3/GCSE students in homes or online, and collaborate with local schools and families.

Qualifications

• Tutoring or teaching experience in Maths, English or Science.
• Right to Work Self Employed in the UK.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in tutoring, teaching or special education.
• Knowledge of the UK Curriculum and GCSE examination process.
• Excellent communication skills and experience managing disengagement.
• Availability during the school day and after school; travel within 20 miles of Cambridge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging, curriculum-relevant KS3 and GCSE Maths, English and Science sessions.
• Help students reengage with learning through respect, understanding and patience.
• Assess students' progress regularly and adapt your approach.

They deliver private tuition at home and online, and work with local schools, Cambridge Council and alternative provision services to support students in school, at home or in the community.

The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, nurturing and engaging KS3/4 Maths, English and Science tutors to join our busy team and support students on a 1:1 basis around Cambridge and the surrounding areas. You will prepare and deliver tailored sessions that meet each student's academic needs and goals, working with students referred through Cambridge Council and local schools. We have specific needs for in-person KS3/4 English, ESOL and Maths tutors who can travel to students based in Cambourne (CB23), and Northstowe (CB24), for this academic year 2026/27.

• We don't work with tutors who are under 18 or still at school. We usually require tutors to be beyond the early stages of university study, or to have equivalent professional experience


• Desirable: SEN experience and a full UK driving licence
