This role would be based within the Connect to Skills team, which offers a range of short non-accredited courses in the following subject areas:

  • Green Skills & Climate Literacy
  • Health & Social Care
  • Early Years & Education
  • Warehousing & Logistics

Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

We welcome applications from anyone who wants to make a difference to the lives of people in Coventry.

Our Values

In line with our One Coventry Values, we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equity and respect remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our Values are:

  • Open and fair: We are fair, open, and transparent.
  • Nurture and develop: We help and encourage everyone to be their best and do their best.
  • Engage and empower: We talk and listen to others, working together as one.
  • Create and innovate: We embrace new ways of working to continuously improve.
  • Own and be accountable: We work together to deliver the best services for our residents.
  • Value and respect: We put diversity and inclusion at the heart of all we do.
What is the job role?

Coventry City Council's Adult Education Service is committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive learning opportunities that improve lives and strengthen communities. Our Connect to Skills pilot project for 2026/27 focuses on engaging residents in Coventry's most deprived areas, supporting those without Level 2 qualifications, and creating pathways into further learning and employment.

We are seeking passionate and adaptable Adult Education Tutors to deliver teaching, learning, and assessment activities across a range of pathways, including:

  • Health & Social Care
  • Green Skills & Climate Literacy
  • Warehousing & Logistics
  • Early Years & Education

You will design and deliver engaging sessions that remove barriers to learning, support progression, and align with our strategic pillars: Learning to Connect, Learn for Life, and Learn for Work. Delivery will take place in community venues such as Family Hubs, libraries, schools, and outreach locations, with flexible modes including face-to-face, online, and blended learning.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You will have a teaching qualification, experience delivery adult learning in community settings, strong communication and organisational skills. In addition you will have the ability to engage diverse learners, including those who are economically inactive, ESOL learners, individuals with additional needs and a commitment to inclusive education.

We offer a supportive team environment, opportunities for professional development, flexible working arrangements and the chance to make a real difference in Coventry communities.
