A family-owned civil engineering company in Birmingham is seeking a Civil Engineer to manage underground construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in tunneling and project management. Additional qualifications like SMSTS training and IOSH certification are preferred. This role requires expertise in construction methods, risk assessment, and effective communication with clients. A commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing is essential, in line with the company's culture.

Designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of underground tunnels, including managing technical aspects like soil and rock mechanics analysis, structural design, and construction methods to ensure projects are completed safely, within budget, and to required specifications, often working on large-scale transportation or infrastructure projects like highways, railways, and water conveyance systems.
