Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Tunnel Systems Engineer to shape the design, delivery and assurance of complex tunnel systems across electrical, mechanical, technology, fire life safety, communications and control domains. You’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams and engage with public and private clients to deliver safe, innovative infrastructure.

You'll be supported to grow your capability, mentor others, and contribute to WSP's tunnel systems capability while working within a collaborative culture

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering.
• CEng preferred; mentoring for chartership available.
• Experience in design, operation, delivery or assurance of complex engineering systems; tunnel experience welcome.
• Excellent problem solving ability and a systems thinking mindset.
• Collaborative with internal and external stakeholders on integrated projects.
• Experience working within UK or international standards.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and deliver design across electrical, mechanical, technology, fire life safety, communications and control systems for tunnels.
• Shape projects from concept stages, embedding safety by design and operations focus.
• Engage with clients including Local Authorities, National Highways, airports and National Grid to deliver tunnel projects.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver client‑focused solutions and grow the technical team.
• Develop talent and influence WSP's tunnel systems capability.
