What skills and experience we're looking for

The Heart of Mercia Multi Academy Trust, based at Hereford Sixth Form College, is seeking to appoint a new software developer to the in‑house development team. The role is available at three levels and we would welcome applications from candidates at various stages of their software development career. Offers will be made at a level commensurate with a candidate’s skills and experience. In the role you will contribute to the development of the Trust’s in‑house student records system Portal MIS and other internally developed systems supporting the operation of the Trust. There will be opportunities to work across the full software stack from user‑facing web applications, background automation, databases and cloud infrastructure. You will also work with a range of stakeholders to gather new requirements, resolve technical issues, and deliver general system support.

Candidates should possess some experience in web application development, general programming and working with SQL‑compatible databases. Familiarity with .NET, Amazon Web Services and Terraform is advantageous. Candidates can demonstrate their skills with relevant qualifications or equivalent practical experience. The role requires adaptability, strong problem‑solving and communication skills. Senior Developers may also take on leadership responsibilities within the team.

The role is primarily based at Hereford Sixth Form College, with expectations of occasional travel to other academies in the Trust. Whilst the role is advertised as full‑time, we welcome requests for flexible and/or part‑remote arrangements.
