Job summary

The Academies For Character And Excellence in Devon is seeking a Trust Repair & Maintenance Technician to join the Estates Team and keep school buildings safe and well maintained. You will apply your broad trades skills, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and support safety, compliance and quick fixes across multiple sites.

You will work with contractors and staff to ensure high-quality outcomes, follow health and safety rules, and contribute to a stable learning environment for pupils

Qualifications

• Experience across multiple trades and a strong understanding of health & safety regulations.
• Knowledge of COSHH principles and compliance requirements.
• Ability to interact professionally with staff, pupils and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient maintenance across school sites in Devon.
• Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs.
• Assist with security, safety issues and minor improvements.
• Coordinate with Premises Manager and contractors as needed.
• Document work and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Followinggrowth within the Trust we are looking to appoint a highly skilled Trust Repair& Maintenance Technician to cover our school sites in Devon. The core purpose of the role will be toensure that our schools’ sites are well maintained and compliant in health, safetyand estates management.

Youwill be a part of our essential Estates Team ensuring that our buildings aremaintained to a high quality and kept in a safe working condition. The role covers a number of varied taskswhere skills in carpentry, fixing locks, electrical work, plumbing, drainage,painting and decorating are required.

What You'll Be Doing

Providingan efficient maintenance service, carrying out work of a wide-ranging naturethrough the following areas: -

• Theplanned Preventative Maintenance Programme (PPM)
• Breakdownand repair
• Possiblealterations to services
• Skilledfault finding
• Testingand re-verification of services (subject to training)
• Possibleinstallation of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures
• Reportand upload documentation on the company compliance system (training provided)
• Dealwith minor security/ safety issues in a timely manner
• Identifyingand reporting major items for repair to the Premises Manager
• Responsiblefor monitoring and managing control of resources and stock levels
• Organisingand overseeing contractors carrying out works on site

• Excellent experience inmultiple trades, and with a strong working knowledge of Health &Safety policies and regulations
• A good understanding of COSHH and be confident to work within these constraints
