You will participate in ward work, rounds, outpatient clinics, and on-call duties, with six-month rotations to gain experience in elective theatre and clinics. The role emphasises GMC compliance and teamwork within the Trust.
Locally Employed Doctors at the ST1+ level are Doctors working within the NHS who are not on a nationally recognised training program but are employed directly by an NHS Trust. These Doctors can be found in various Specialties and often include International Medical Graduates in their first NHS post. Typical duties include Ward work and rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, theatre time (where relevant) and Outpatient clinics. Most posts include out-of-hours commitments and operate on full shift rotas. Locally Employed Doctors generally work under the supervision of senior medical staff and have access to support at all times. This post will work across both General Surgery and Urology and Trauma and Orthopaedics specialties at Scarborough hospital. The on-call element of this role will cover both specialties, whilst standard working days will be aligned with General Surgery. The post will provide the opportunity to undertake rotations in both specialties on a six-month basis. This will provide the post holder with the opportunity to gain experience in elective theatre and clinic settings. The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients within the trust area.
