Job description
TRUST DOCTOR (EQV. TO ST3+ LEVEL) IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE – THE ROYAL LONDON HOSPITAL

We are delighted to invite applications for a 12‑month fixed‑term post in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidates will join The Royal London's team of Emergency Medicine senior clinical fellows.

Post is for candidates with at least 2‑year post graduate experience in emergency medicine looking for further experience in a well‑supported teaching hospital and major trauma centre environment. Planned start date February 2026 or as soon as possible after.

Responsibilities include:

  • Registrar (ST3+) level duties in the emergency department working on a full shift rota.
  • 24/7 consultant presence, senior training registrars and a team of junior doctors and practitioners support clinical duties.
  • 20% non‑clinical time dedicated to an area of special interest negotiated with the successful applicant (examples: ultrasound, education, quality improvement).
  • Parity in clinical supervision, development and training with training posts.

Qualifications:

  • Full registration with the GMC, licence to practice and NHS experience.
  • Minimum 2 years post graduate experience in emergency medicine.

The department receives a full range of emergencies from the local area and major trauma from North East London and Essex with a total of 180 000 patients seen each year.

Many of our previous fellows have progressed to emergency medicine national training posts, fellowships with the Physician Response Unit and local HEMS services.
