It is well suited to those wishing to apply for ACCS, and prior holders have had considerable success in this regard.

Clinical Duties

The post includes SHO (F2–ST1) level duties in the emergency department, working on a full shift rota. Clinical duties are supported by 24/7 consultant presence, senior training registrars and a team of junior doctors and practitioners.

Contact

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Dr Jim Moonie, Emergency Medicine Consultant and Lead for Junior Recruitment, at james.moonie2@nhs.net.

Apply Early

Please be advised that the vacancy advertisement may close early if a sufficient number of applications are received. We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Role Experience
  • Supervised clinical experience in emergency medicine, including major and moderate medical emergencies across the breadth of the specialty.
  • Developing experience in providing support to more junior clinical colleagues.
  • Developing supervised experience in running emergency department areas (depending on level of previous experience).
  • Developing a project portfolio, the terms of reference of which will be agreed in collaboration with the post holder.
Supervision

Posts will have clinical supervision on a day‑to‑day basis by the duty emergency medicine consultant. Each post holder will have a named educational supervisor responsible for developmental and pastoral supervision, and will ultimately be responsible to the Clinical Lead for Emergency Medicine.

Team

Clinically the post holder will work within a broad clinical team including Consultants in emergency medicine, junior and senior emergency medicine trainees and clinical fellows, and advanced care practitioners, physicians associates, and emergency nurse practitioners.

Responsibilities
