In this role, you will ensure accurate and updated tree records, respond to public and internal inquiries, and assist in reviewing Tree Preservation Orders. Please note this is a nine month, fixed term contract.
Dorset is home to some of the UK’s most treasured landscapes, including the Jurassic Coast and internationally protected heathlands. At Dorset Council, we’re proud to protect and enhance these environments for future generations. As a Temporary Tree Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting this mission. If you’re passionate about trees, detail-focused, and ready to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
Be part of Dorset.
You’ll support Dorset Council’s Tree Team by ensuring our tree records are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible. You’ll be the first point of contact for tree-related enquiries, helping internal teams and the public navigate applications and conservation queries.
You’re a detail-oriented, collaborative individual with strong IT skills and a passion for the natural environment. You’re confident using spreadsheets, databases, and mapping software, and you communicate clearly with a wide range of people. You will need to be able to follow precise instructions, pay attention to detail, and ensure that information is accurately recorded and monitored.
Whether working independently or as part of a team, you bring precision, purpose, and a shared commitment to conservation. You’ll also need to converse comfortably with customers and provide accurate advice in spoken English. Knowledge of Tree Preservation Orders and the process to undertake work to trees covered by a Tree Preservation Order would be an advantage.
You will be able to work in a team environment, follow procedures and be flexible and willing to learn.
