Job Description
Why join us

Joining Argos as the Treasury Manager & Dealer presents a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in managing the organisation's short to medium-term cash position and mitigating financial market risks. With a focus on optimising interest income, expense, and hedging solutions, this role offers the chance to lead key treasury functions and build strong relationships with external stakeholders. As a valued member of the Finance team, you will have the autonomy to make strategic decisions within Treasury Policy guidelines while contributing to the overall financial health and success of the company.

What you'll do

Your primary responsibility will be managing the short to medium-term cash position, monitoring and mitigating financial market risks such as FX, commodity, and interest rate risks in alignment with Board approved policies. You will focus on optimising interest income and expense, implementing cost-effective hedging solutions, and nurturing relationships with external banking and liquidity fund stakeholders.

Your role will encompass daily cash management, cash pooling, and cash flow forecasting, along with training stakeholders on foreign currency exposure management. Additionally, you will develop and implement Treasury policies, maintain Treasury systems, monitor financial markets for value-driven recommendations, and liaise with banking partners. Reporting to various committees and producing Treasury-related notes for statutory accounts will also be key accountabilities within this role.

Who you are

You are a highly skilled professional with a treasury or accounting qualification, possessing a detailed knowledge of financial markets and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a large Treasury function. Your ability to manage short to medium-term cash positions and exposure to financial market risks, such as FX, commodity, and interest rate risk, demonstrates your expertise in optimising interest income, delivering cost-effective hedging solutions, and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders. With your advanced Excel skills, analytical mindset, and strong communication abilities, you play a crucial role in developing and implementing Treasury policies, monitoring financial markets, and providing valuable recommendations to senior management, Treasury Committee, and the Board.

Essential Criteria
  • Treasury and/or accounting qualification (e.g. ACT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience working within a Treasury function, including exposure to financial markets and treasury operations
  • Detailed knowledge of financial markets and their impact on treasury activities and financial risk management
  • Advanced Excel capability, with evidence of applying numerical and analytical skills to financial analysis, modelling or reporting
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships, communicate with stakeholders at varying levels, and influence decision-making
