What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about disability equality and inclusion, and who shares our belief that lived experience should be at the heart of leadership.
Our ideal Treasurer will bring experience in financial management, accounting, or charity finance, along with a good understanding of governance and compliance. Experience in bid writing, grant funding, or income generation would be a real advantage, as we continue to grow and strengthen our impact as a small charity.
You don’t need to be a qualified accountant, but you should feel comfortable analysing financial information, communicating it clearly to others, and supporting good financial decision-making at Board level.

We’re looking for someone who has knowledge of charity finances, budgeting, and financial controls.
Can support with developing financial policies and systems that are proportionate for a small, volunteer-led organisation.
Have experience in sourcing or managing funding, grants, or partnerships.
Are confident contributing to strategic discussions and helping the board plan for sustainable growth.
Are collaborative, open-minded, and committed to accessibility and inclusion.
Lived experience of disability or a strong understanding of the barriers faced by disabled people would be particularly valued.

What will you be doing?
Disability Equals Ability is a small, charity dedicated to promoting equality, accessibility, and representation. We’re looking for an Honorary Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees — someone who can help guide our finances and strengthen our ability to grow sustainably.
As Treasurer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the charity’s financial health and helping the board make confident, strategic decisions. You’ll oversee our budgets and financial reports, ensure proper controls are in place, and advise on how our funds can best support our mission and community work.
You’ll also
Lead on financial policy development, including reserves, investment, and risk management.
Support the creation of clear, accessible financial reports for the Board.
Oversee the implementation of sound financial systems and ensure compliance with charity regulations.
Act as a counter signatory on charity cheques and funding applications when needed.
Advise on the financial implications of our strategic and operational plans.
As a small charity, we particularly welcome someone with experience in bid writing, grant applications, and sourcing new funding opportunities. Your insight will help us diversify income streams, secure vital funding, and invest in projects that celebrate disability inclusion and equality.
