Job description

Dystonia UK is seeking a new Treasurer to help support our health charity. This is a key position on our Board of Trustees and a great opportunity to make a difference for people living with dystonia, an incurable neurological condition. It's a voluntary role (travel expenses covered), responsible for overseeing the charity's financial health and integrity, and for ensuring effective governance of financial affairs.

As Treasurer, you’ll play a vital role in helping Dystonia UK maintain its strong financial foundations and plan confidently for the future.

You will oversee our finances, ensuring we use our resources effectively to achieve our mission. Working closely with the Chair, CEO, Senior Management Team, and fellow Trustees, you will provide clear financial guidance and insight that supports sound decision-making and long-term sustainability.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeingfinancial strategy, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Ensuringeffective financial controls, policies, and reporting are in place.
  • Presenting clear, accessiblefinancial information to the Board.
  • Leading theFinance & General Purposes Committee.
  • Liaising with our small staff team onday-to-day finance matters, including payroll, banking, and year-end accounts.
  • Supporting thepreparation of the annual budget and accounts, and managing the independent examination process.

This is a hands‑on but rewarding role, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in a small, passionate organisation that supports a community often overlooked in the wider health landscape.
