Job summary

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the CAMHS Team at Clayfields House Secure Children's Home on a 10-month maternity cover contract.

The role involves assessment, specialist intervention, training MDT staff, and delivering trauma-informed, neurodiversity-friendly care to young people aged 10–18 with complex communication needs.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration.
• Significant experience with children/young people with SLN/SLCN, ideally in youth justice, social care or CAMHS.
• Excellent clinical reasoning, advocacy and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to anti-racism and trauma-informed practice with inclusive communication.
• Able to work autonomously and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive speech, language and communication assessments.
• Design and deliver evidence-based, individualised intervention programmes.
• Provide consultation, advice and training to colleagues to embed communication-inclusive practice.
• Work with families, carers and MDT to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
• Contribute to service development and innovative approaches in a secure setting.
