Job summary

Peterborough First group is seeking an experienced social worker to safeguard vulnerable children and young people at risk of exploitation, trafficking and going missing. You will work directly with families and partners to assess risk, develop protective plans and coordinate responses with police and health services.

The role emphasises trauma-informed assessments, care planning, advocacy and multi-agency collaboration to secure positive outcomes for children and young people.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with registration to the relevant regulatory body.
• Experience in safeguarding or child protection settings.
• Knowledge of legislation and guidance related to child exploitation and missing children.
• Excellent communication, assessment and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and anti-oppressive practice.

Responsibilities

• Take a trauma-informed approach in assessments of children and young people at risk of exploitation or who have gone missing, ensuring their immediate safety and wellbeing.
• Develop, implement and review care plans in partnership with families and professionals, focusing on risk reduction and long-term support.
• Coordinate safeguarding responses with police, health services, education providers and community organisations.
• Provide direct support, advice and interventions to children, young people and families, empowering informed decisions and resilience.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to reports for meetings, court proceedings and statutory reviews.
• Participate in training, supervision and ongoing professional development.
