Transport Team Manager

Location: Hatfield

Hours: Night shift, Monday to Friday 22:00-06:00 with flexibility for weekends and holiday cover.

Salary: £43,366.08 + 10% shift premium = £47,702.69 per annum

Key Responsibilities
  • The efficient operation of your day-to-day shift.
  • Maximise productivity and quality through monitoring, encouraging, and supporting drivers and clerical team.
  • Ensure effective use of all available resources, working based on continual improvement and cost-down.
  • Ensure KPI's are met.
  • Monitor and control absence.
  • Ensure effective communications both internally in Transport department, within the Distribution Centre, and with customers including Supply Chain and branches.
  • Challenge underperformance and recognise good performance in equal measure.
  • Conduct disciplinary and absence hearings effectively when required.
  • Conduct appraisal reviews for the colleagues within your team.
Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience within a Transport Operation is preferred.
  • Experience in a Logistics setting is essential.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Ability to plan resource and report KPI information with accuracy.
  • Good understanding of multi-temperature warehouse/transport procedures and compliance; ability to demonstrate high levels of initiative, focus, commitment, and flexibility.
  • Commitment and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience applying knowledge of relevant legislation, especially Transport Legislation, and awareness of the impact of non‑compliance on the company Operator Licence.
  • Ability to effectively plan labour and resource to deliver operational requirements in a timely manner while meeting agreed KPI's and Service Levels.
  • Effective team worker and confident, positive communicator.
  • PC literate in Excel and Word.
  • CPC qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • BARNPERM.
