Job summary

Menzies Distribution Solutions is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our team in Kettering. You will execute transport plans, ensure SLA/KPI targets are achieved, and optimise routes to maximise vehicle capacity while complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety.

The role involves managing driver hours and tachograph compliance, coordinating with customers and suppliers, producing KPI reports, and promoting efficient, cost‑effective operations.

Qualifications

• Understanding of drivers' hours and WTD rules.
• Experience operating a Transport Management System (TMS).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Execute transport plans to meet SLAs/KPIs and maximise vehicle capacity.
• Manage driver hours, WTD compliance and holidays.
• Prepare KPI reports and monitor fuel efficiency.
• Coordinate with customers and suppliers; promote safe, compliant operations.
• Investigate incidents and manage tachograph infringements.
• Ensure agency driver induction and ongoing compliance.

Job description

Menzies Distribution Solutions are looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our team based in Kettering. As a Transport Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the execution of transport plans ensuring transport and network SLA's/KPI's are achieved, developing and building efficient routes whilst maximising vehicle capacity - ensuring all work is distributed whilst complying with Transport Legislation, Health & Safety and customer service requirements. You will also ensure that the customer's products are delivered on time and in full using the most cost effective means possible, and best use of available resources including maximising the utilisation of Menzies Drivers in line with current driver hours and WTD legislation.

• Shift Pattern: 4 On/4 Off Nights
• Length of Shift: 12 Hours
• Working Hours: 19:00 - 07:00

• Maintenance and Management of the Transport Management System (TMS).
• Ensure effective and efficient use of driver and vehicle resources.
• Ensuring customer requirements are administered in a timely, controlled and recorded manner.
• Liaise, support and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
• Promote effective and efficient standards of work, in order to comply with transport legislation, company policy and Health & Safety legislation.
• Promotion and adherence to site policy and procedure.
• Managing Driver hours, WTD rules.
• To carry out investigations or incident reports in relation to any vehicle incidents when necessary.
• Ensure all agency drivers are inducted correctly and Compliance is monitored.
• Manage tachograph infringements to ensure full compliance.
• Co-ordinate drivers including managing holiday and sickness cover.
• Query investigation and resolution.
• Preparing and submitting various KPI reports.
• Record, monitor & be proactive in achieving improved fuel efficiency and better MPG.
• Cross functional interaction (Warehouse / Drivers or Contractors / Customers).
• Undertake any other duties that are reasonably requested.

REQUIREMENTS

• A detailed understanding of the rules and regulation around drivers' hours
• Experience using TMS, Convey, ESP or similar
• Hardworking, positive and a flexible attitude to work
• Previous experience working in a Transport Office
• Understand WTD
• Computer Literate
• Experience using Microsoft Packages
