A vacancy has arisen within Leicestershire County Council's in‑house passenger fleet team to join us in the role of transport supervisor.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and legally compliant passenger transport services for predominantly SEN home‑to‑school transport and Adult Social Care for the benefit of the people of Leicestershire.
As a transport supervisor you will have the skills to manage and lead a dedicated county‑wide team of drivers, escorts, and contingent workers in accordance with agreed performance standards. You will provide front‑line day‑to‑day supervision to ensure all operational aspects of the Passenger Fleet operate effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities include assisting the Team Manager and Transport Managers with employee selection, recruitment, induction, training and development, attendance management, monitoring and disciplinary procedures.
In addition, you will also be responsible for ensuring that our health and safety responsibilities are met for both staff, passengers, and depots (buildings).
The nature of the work will involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours.
Currently the team operates a rota covering the staff helpline during the hours of 6am to 6pm, this is shared on a rolling basis with other transport supervisors.
This post is based in County Hall, but the nature of the work requires the jobholder to carry out work at different locations (depots and school sites) around the county (including at peak school times) and therefore will need access to a car for work purposes.
This post is classed as a “Safety Critical Post” and is therefore subject to random Drugs & Alcohol testing in accordance with our policies and procedures. A copy of our Substance Misuse Policy and Procedure is available upon request.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
Reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
