Job summary

Gist Limited in Thatcham is seeking a Full Time Night Transport Shift Manager to lead the nightly transport operations, ensuring smooth delivery and assisting the Transport Operation Manager with key tasks.

The role requires hands-on management experience in FMCG transport, strong leadership, and a focus on safety, efficiency, and team development. You will work a 4-from-7 pattern, 20:30–06:30, at our Thatcham site.

• Extensive knowledge of transport in FMCG distribution.
• Experience in management level and leading teams.

• Flexibility to cover varied shift patterns including nights.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and friendly working environment for all staff, agency and subcontractors.
• Own recruitment, induction, absence management, wellbeing meetings & 121s, including disciplinaries and investigations within transport.
• Ensure effective communication within transport teams through meetings and briefings.
• Deliver operational KPIs and maintain/improve performance to maximise efficiency in line with account KPIs.

We are looking for aFull Time Night Transport Shift Managerto join our team in Thatcham. As aTransport Shift Manager,you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the day to day transport operations at the site, ensuring the operation is running smoothly, and supporting the Transport Operation Manager with a variety of tasks that add value to the operation.

What you’ll do:

• Maintaining a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency and subcontractors
• Own the recruitment, induction, absence management, well-being meetings &121s process, including disciplinaries, grievances and investigations within the transport department
• Ensuring effective communication within the transport teams through meetings and briefings
• Responsible for delivery of operational KPIs. Maintain and improve performance levels to maximise efficiency of operation in line with account KPI's

• Thorough knowledge and hands on experience of a transport function within the FMCG Distribution Industry
• A background operating at a management level is a must

• You'll come in to contact with Trade Unions (previous experience with this would be beneficial
