Job Description

Due to our continued growth we opened our 5th Hub that is the largest and most technically advanced in Europe. In light of this growth we are currently recruiting Transport Shift Managers, to help strengthen our award winning team.

In this role you will be part of the Traffic Office management team who ensure the smooth running of our Transport operation. You will be responsible for engaging, motivating and managing Class 1 Drivers, including agency and subcontracted routes, in order to achieve operational Key Performance Indicators.

Other key accountabilities will include:

  • Controlling and organising routes in response to planned allocation whilst also reporting and communicating with the relevant teams about breakdowns, traffic delays and accidents.
  • Controlling, monitoring and authorisation of driver’s hours and the monitoring and reporting of accidents as per company policy and legal requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Operator’s Licence and other legal compliance requirements.
  • Liaising with workshops to ensure they receive requested vehicles for service, MOT or repair.
  • Carrying out and follow through defect procedures, including the issue and return of Defect Reports.
  • Maintaining driver brief and de‑brief sheets and daily running sheets.
  • Ensuring correct paperwork (including disclaimers and driving licence checks) and briefings are completed with agency drivers.
Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • You will have experience in a fast‑paced operation with proven and demonstrable people management experience, ideally driver management within a transport setting.
  • You will have strong communication skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and manage a team.
  • Decisive and effective decision‑making, problem resolution and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate high levels of resilience, self‑motivation and flexibility.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to use Google Chrome applications.
  • The ability to do comprehensive reporting, alongside analysis of data is a key requirement for this role.
