Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd. is supporting a growing civil engineering and transport planning consultancy in Southampton to recruit a Transport Planner. You will work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects and contribute from feasibility through delivery.

You will gain exposure to projects ranging from small developments to strategic sites, develop technical expertise, take ownership of projects and progress within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• A degree-level qualification in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or related discipline.
• At least three years’ experience within a transport planning environment.
• Working knowledge of relevant design guidance and local planning policy.
• Experience using AutoCAD, TRICS and transport modelling software.

Responsibilities

• Managing and delivering small to medium-sized projects from inception through to completion.
• Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes and Access Appraisals.
• Undertaking trip generation and distribution assessments using industry-standard methodologies and software.
• Preparing and reviewing planning drawings, including visibility splays, vehicle tracking and access proposals.
• Carrying out site visits and providing practical transport planning advice to support development proposals.
• Attending meetings with clients, project teams and Local Highway Authorities.
• Supporting consultation events and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Preparing fee proposals and assisting with the delivery of larger projects where required.
