Job summary

Tarmac in Doncaster is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to coordinate transport operations on a fixed-term maternity cover. You will report to the Distribution Supervisor and be responsible for planning and delivering efficient transport plans to internal and external customers.

The role requires strong IT skills, planning experience, and excellent communication. Working Monday to Friday with a rota-based Saturday shift from home, you will help maximise fleet utilisation and maintain

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning and coordinating vehicle movements.
• Strong customer service and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, hauliers and customers.
• Proficient IT skills and experience with planning/scheduling systems.
• Excellent organisation and prioritisation of changing workloads.
• Proactive problem-solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the distribution of products to customers.
• Maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise haulage queries.
• Provide timely communication to customers, drivers, hauliers, and stakeholders.
• Monitor daily/weekly transport schedules to meet service levels.
• Respond to operational changes and disruptions with effective solutions.
• Collaborate with strategic customers to align delivery plans with demand.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and fleet utilisation.
• Build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
