Container Transport Planner

Up to £38k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Portsmouth – PO1 4QY

Our client is a leading, global multi-modal freight company. They look for an experienced Transport Planner to join their planning team in Portsmouth, a deep‑water cargo terminal with direct access to the motorway network. The role focuses on efficient planning and coordination of container movements across the South, with occasional involvement at London Gateway.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate daily container haulage work across the company fleet.
• Proactively forward‑plan workloads to maximise efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and subcontractors.
• Manage delays and operational issues in a professional, solution‑focused manner.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records using transport management systems and digital tools.
• Occasionally assist with general haulage.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience in container haulage planning.
• Strong knowledge of port operations and regional transport routes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient IT skills; experience using TOPS is a strong advantage.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound operational decisions.
• Flexibility to participate in an on‑call rota.
