We are looking to recruit a Transport Planner.
Shifts available: 4 on 4 off, 6 am to 6 pm.
Salary: £30,000.00
Key duties include:
- Plan routes and schedule delivery times to provide first‑class service in a cost‑effective manner.
- Carry out tasks largely unsupervised to cost and quality standards.
- Plan tasks and resources, liaising with internal/external customers to resolve problems.
- Collect, analyse and distribute information/data.
- Provide professional/specialist advice both internally and externally.
- Develop relationships with external customers.
- Specify and ensure levels of support service are in place.
- Prioritise and co‑ordinate workloads.
- Complete tasks to time and quality standards.
- Work to budgets and avoid customer complaints.
- Maintain safe working procedures.
- Plan routes and schedule delivery times with customers, suppliers, drivers and other traffic desks.
- Liaise with other depots in the company.
- Communicate and monitor driver performance.
- Use computerised system Stirling and Excel spreadsheets.
- Book driver agency staff according to workload.
- Monitor compliance and work with drivers to eliminate infringements.
- Ensure drivers are aware of SAFED and improve SAFED achievements.
- Contribute to employee health and safety.
- Ensure vehicles and trailers are available timely to meet compliance and inspection requirements.
- Provide general support to management as required.
Qualifications and experience:
- Experience working at a similar level.
- CPC holder desirable (National) but not essential.
- Job‑specific qualification preferred.
- Experience in traffic management and dealing with VOSA compliance.
- Problem‑solving and logical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised, manage time and prioritise to meet tight deadlines.
- Computer skills: Stirling (desirable) and Excel.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact at all levels.
- Geographical knowledge.
- Team player with a flexible ‘Can Do’ attitude.
